Living a zero-waste lifestyle requires a mindset shift—that's a fact. Most of us have been raised in a disposable, single-use culture. It has become so "normal" that adopting a zero-waste lifestyle can feel strange, as if you are swimming against the tide. But that is exactly what many of the changes the world needs from us today are about: going against the tide and reversing the damage we as humans have done.
As I mentioned in my interview with Anaïs, we are gambling with nature—and we will lose. But here is the good news: every individual has the power to take action and choose differently. That is the beauty of it. I am here to help and learn alongside you.
Your body is the environment, and the environment is your body.
I admire the shifts Rita has made in her life. At first, she might be seen as the "strange lady who brings her own box," but soon she is recognized as "the nice lady who helps reduce waste and save money." We can all learn from each other, right? If you notice you are in a place where people are unaware of the waste they are creating, play the "Rita game" and ask: "Did you know you can reduce this waste by...?" It is a friendly way to share knowledge and encourage others to do better, too.
And a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself. We learn step by step, and there is always room for improvement (I am still learning, too). Every day, I try to stay mindful of my actions and progress at my own pace. I believe that only by sharing with kindness can we create real positive change.
